Qatar is located on the West Coast in the Persian Gulf, It’s a peninsula country. The total area of Qatar is 11581 square kilometers. The total population of Qatar is 3 million.
The period between June and September is considered Summer in Qatar. In these four months, the temperature in Doha reaches up to 55 degrees Celsius with 70% - 90% humidity. Once you go outside your home in this season, you will have a shower in sweat.
On the 10th of November 1939, British petroleum found the first oil field in the western part of Qatar. However, the first oil truck which departed from Qatar was 10 years later in 1949 due to the second world war.
1949 marked the year where the pearl-based economy shifted toward the oil-based company but oil was still insufficient for the development of the country.
On the 3rd September of 1971, Qatar got its independency and in 1974, found a huge natural gas field which comprised of 16% of the total global reserve. Unfortunately, the mining of petroleum was dropped that time due to the geographical structure of the country which rendered it impossible to set up pipelines and liquefaction technology was not in existence that time.
In the beginning of the 1990s, liquefaction process was discovered and in 1994, Qatar produced LNG. The modernization of Qatar began in 1996 when Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani took the throne.
Qatar is in GCC region, GCC stands for Gulf Corporation Council. There are 6 countries, Oman, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
